Maybe What We Need

Maybe we need more participation at least more posting (even if it's just busy talk like the other forum)
Act like we are all paid "MODERATORS"....
Being retired and being a busy body who's always around...guess every time I get on here I will post something
so there's always something to comment on...just don't get all negative know-it-all like others we know...hehehe

I can't believe those three bikes we saw go by at Mt Dora just sat there without looking around for the rest of us
I could never be a good boy scout I'll be darned if I'm gonna stay in one spot until someone finds me...LOL

So lots of mods on all those bikes that showed up at Mt Dora
I'm motivated...

I already ordered some reflective tape that will not come off once you put it on..
https://www.tapejungle.com/categories/reflective-tapes.html

The one for $10 for 15 yds I bought blue...always wanted blue but lights are against the law unless law enforcement
but if my bike reflects blue from the side view...they may stop pretty quick seeing the silhouette of what looks like a motorcycle cop on his bike.

I ordered the backoff module for my brakes to flash multiple times each time I step on the brakes
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/29676/i/signal-dynamics-back-off-xp-brake-light-signal-module

And have the proper instructions and verified install methods from folks who've done it on the CTX

Also ordered a Sumitomo 6187-2801 Black Male connector that mates with the heated grip dummy outlet up under the forks that is unused to supply power to my new running lights on the outsides of the front wheel (LED) low draw.
http://www.cycleterminal.com/hm-sealed-series-090.html (Male half only Black Male HM090-2 $3.25 each)

Now all I gotta do is find LED running lights I like to install and buy or order them....
There are so many...to choose from...gotta be careful to get waterproof, shock resistant, and not too much current draw...I think I want single LED and all housed in plastic not painted metal.

Some interesting ones I found so far are:

Guess a monster loud horn would be nice to top it off with...

Regarding "I can't believe those three bikes we saw go by at Mt Dora just sat there without looking around for the rest of us"

But, (I think her name was Kelly) said "this is where we met last time". I just assumed we were at the correct place and nobody else was coming. I've never been to one of these.

Frankly, I would have loved to 'ride' around and look for ya'.

My wife and I were at the last meet up. It was nice to meet others with a love of the the CTX. Missed out on this one, but we knew we had other plans for that day and would not be able to make this meet up. Sounds like it was a great group (or groups since there were two spots)!

I think the lights from superbright would be a better choice
If you look around you'll notice most (if not all) of the lights similar to what you show, are in metal housings and the housings are finned.
That's because these lights generate some heat that may melt plastic housings and the metal dissipates the heat better..
I've used various led lights on several different bikes over the years. Being thrifty (some would say cheap) I never went to the Denali or other name brands. Actually I don't see a value in them. There are near equal or equal lights to be had for much, much less-like what you found.
I used 25 watt on my Ural, big round and heavy and bright-one spot & one flood. Used 15 watt on the big Vstrom and 10 watt on others. Our CTXs are limited at to mounting locations unless you get an engine guard you'll likely be on the forks unless you get creative.
Don't worry about draw, there aren't many that use more than 1.5 amps/light-a 5 amp fuse will easily handle a pair. I don't use a relay because of this but I always run a fused power source on any extra lights-even put a fuse on the extra brake lights with modulator that I installed. Even a fuse on my extra horn and that with a relay because of the draw. Our bikes will easily handle a pair of 15 (or 2o) watt lights plus heated grips and a phone plug and even heated gloves/jacket.
I don't ride much at night (hardly any night time) so I am more concerned with daytime conspicuity (man, I love big words). The Ural and V stroms lights were more for a cool factor (have always been cool) than night visibility.
For extra conspicuity (there's that big word again) check out the post by Woodswoman for the LEDs in the front turn signals-it will let you be seen for sure. http://www.ctx700-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459

For those that want to know. The max output of the alternator is 438 - 450 watts @ 5000 RPMS. If your using high wattage stuff like heated grips, jackets, gloves... etc. cursing along at 2500 RPMs with all the stuff on you could be killing your battery. Install a voltage monitor. If you monitor 13 volts or less you are discharging the battery.
