    Trouble in Paradise.

Yeah, I don't think this is real. Did people here realize that the rear shock on the CTX700 has less than 1" of travel? REALLY! However, that 1" is run through a lever arm of the swingarm, that gives you a 4:1 increase in range-of-motion of the rear wheel. So whilst the shock moves 1", the...

    Who rode today?

Awesome! A bit cold in the morning going over the pass from Santa Barbara up until I hit Santa Maria, other than that it was great. Tomorrow I ride back down - probably do quite a bit of it on the 1!

    Who rode today?

    Hello from Spain

I love the white! Wish we could have gotten the DCT in white here...:(

    What happened here? ? ? ?

Rode Friday and Saturday (only 150 miles each day, errands and such), oil change today. More riding tomorrow!

    running light,s

Might need to consider moving them lower if they wash out your blinkers. That's law, and one of the reasons that a fog light that is close to a turn signal turns off if the turn signal is on.

    Dunlop Roadsmart III Motorcycle Tires?

I'ts not really road crown - it's the fact that left turns are ALWAYS longer than your right turn. So you end up with more "left" side wear than right...:) The opposite happens in countries like the UK and Thailand; in Thailand I always wore down the right side faster than the left - because...

    Chain oiler noob questions

I followed Pony and bought a Pro Oiler too! It's great. I have it dialed in to use 0.2L of oil every 8000 miles. Yes, I buy a gallon of oil, use most of it for my 8K oil change (I always change both filters - they're cheap), and the balance is used up oiling the chain. I live in Ventura, CA...

Next time someone says the CTX DCT is a bike for beginners/old men/scooter......

I just tell people, if it's good enough for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and McLaren, then I figure it is good enough for my motorcycle...:)

    brake light access

Yep. That's the only way to do it. I also switched the signal lights over to LEDs and put my ballast resistors (to keep the flash rate constant) in at the same time, since it's the same harness area. And then I also ran a wire out for extra brake lights around the license plate (I used some...

Aren't floorboards - and muffler guards - consumables?

    Gossip, rumors, and lies

I prefer to stick with the tried and true: Elves riding unicorns and carving raw ABS into shape. Worked so far!

    Cameras

I have an Innovv K1 camera system on my bike. One camera up front, one in the rear. GPS for speed/location tracking. With a 64GB card, I get about 6 hours before the video loops over - but it's easy to save fun sections by pushing the button on the dash!

    Let's see your large saddlebags

Get a bigger top case. I love my Shad SH50. HUGE - it can hold my XXL Schuberth C3Pro and my wife's L full-face Bilt helmet - AND a jacket at the same time. With that and the factory bags, I have around 108L of hard storage.

What you going to do in 2018?

Bah, bulk shmulk... When you're 320 pounds of solid meat, an 800 pound bike is just something to toss around! :)

What you going to do in 2018?

Getting a new Goldwing Tour and going to do some LONG trips... Keeping the CTX however, for a buddy who rides but currently - because of his housing situation - does not have a bike. And yes, the new GW will be a DCT model... ;)

    New giant newb!

Whale oil. It's a tried-and-true means of lubrication for 3 centuries. Neither, use the side stand. Of course it is heresy that you even turn it off, implying you actually STOP riding at some point. Slacker. Plenty. Only when you get them menstrual cramps real hard. The two are not mutually...

    hello

It is cold! It was just 63 degrees when I did my first quick errand this morning, at least it will warm up a little today and reach an acceptable 75... New Year's Eve will be cold, around 53 when the clock strikes midnight! :) Happy New Year!
