    So, where is everybody?

Thanks mj. That's the kind of info I've hoping to get. Maybe now that winter is upon most of the lower 48 in the US, more folks will be at home and offer their opinions as well. I'm the sort of guy who seeks lots of input from others before spending large sums of money in hopes of make...

    So, where is everybody?

Good morning. I thought about posing these thoughts in a new thread, but they are related to, "where is everybody?" I joined very recently because a close friend of mine allowed me to ride his CTX700 (manual) and I was so impressed, I wanted to learn more. Sadly, this place seems to be...

How old were you when you started riding a bike?

1968 I was 14 and obtained a hardship license to ride a bike of 100cc or less. I purchased a 1964 Honda 90 Street to commute to a local farm for summer work. That 90 served me well for the next two years at which time I was able to get a license with no size restriction and moved up to a 1968...

I guess I was dealing with some slow electrons. I checked back on that post a few times the day I submitted it and nothing. Now, it's showing up.

    dark side

I got mine at TiresEsay.com https://www.tires-easy.com/tires/achilles-tires/s/atr-k-economist/175-55-15 I'm keen on finding out which tire Ron used as the one in his picture looks an awful lot like the Achilles ATR-K that I have on my RT. The size (175/60) is what caught my attention at...

    dark side

Ron, I'm curious about what tire you found in 175/60. I dark-sided my BMW R1100RT two years ago with an Achilles 175/55/17 and now have almost 11K miles on it. It is looking like it may go at least another 5 to 6K, but I'd like to get an early start on locating the next tire and the 175/60...

New to the CTX with questions

The hand controls are not the problem. The shifter and foot brake are what give me problems because I have to reach to far with my short legs to feel comfortable. I've already started some planning on how to add a secondary brake lever to solve that problem though.

I've been trying to load a custom avatar and keep getting the message it failed. I'm pretty sure I have the size correct. Is there a certain number of posts required before an avatar can be used?

New to the CTX with questions

While the subject is at hand; are there good years vs. bad years for the DCT and/or the 700CTX in general and how reliable are the DCT transmissions? I want to make the best informed decision possible as this will likely be the last bike purchase I make.

Yeah, that was suggested on one of the Facebook pages and I am certainly entertaining that idea. As I get older (now 65) I am not so gung-ho on the whole riding hard and "having" to shift on my own terms. I've been studying the possibility of adding a mechanism for moving the foot brake back a...

    Howdy!!

I guess I should have come here first. I jumped right in over in the modifications section seeking information on a few mods. So; time to say HOWDY from Fritch, Tx. Been riding since 1968 with a 20 year break from 1980 to 2000. Been making up for lost time since April of 2000 with over 360K...

New to the CTX with questions

Appreciate the response and links. I failed to mention, the CTX I rode yesterday has floor boards. I really didn't have that much of a problem getting on and off; just had to be careful about hitting the top of the right saddlebag as I swung my leg over. The foot controls being so far out...

New to the CTX with questions

Greetings from the far side all. Just wanted to say thanks for letting me in. I just rode a 700CTX (std trans) for the first time. I must say I am thoroughly impressed. I did not get to ride it far as it belongs to a friend of mine and he just got it himself. It's a 2014 that looks to be in near...
