New bike home. 2014 NOS CTX700 6 speed conventional transmission

I was delighted with the results on my 2006 Hyosung 650, and ever so disappointed I didn't get to do the break-in on my 2014 CTX (especially since it will likely be my last motorcycle!). Good luck with whatever you choose.

New bike home. 2014 NOS CTX700 6 speed conventional transmission

Not really. Basically, it is a series of short bursts of high rev's with cooling off periods in between. There are several oil changes done in short intervals done long before the "first service" a 600 miles.

New bike home. 2014 NOS CTX700 6 speed conventional transmission

Since yours is essentially a virgin ride I would suggest that you do yourself a favor regarding the break in. Google "Motorcycle hard break-in" and do a little research on the technique before you put on too many more miles. I did this hard break in procedure on the only new bike I've ever...

    Fehling crash bars Update

Roger that! But as you know, mine is a trike so I'm not needing tip over protection. Although I finally am riding it, I still have much to do before it is "finished" so I'll wait, thanks!:D

    Fehling crash bars Update

If you opt out, no need to spend money on eBay. As I told you when I sent you the bars, that if you came up with something, I'd be your first customer. That offer still stands. I'll buy them back. Let me know if you're going to keep them, and if so, I'll order another set from Germany. :D

    New member welcome thread..

Michael: Which Ohlins damper are you planning for your ride? Is it a straight replacement or will you have to diddle with the install? Finally, what improvements do you expect to get from the replacement? TIA!

Nobody said they don't exist, what was said about the ones in your picture is, you can't buy them for love nor money. Others have tried.

That was kinda negative. You should strive to be more positive in the future!:D

So do I need a bigger bike?

Jim: I smile to myself whenever friend or foe of the CTX calls it "little." My motorcycle love affair began in 1956 and I had my first bike by Aug. 1957. JSYK, in those days, if the CTX existed then, it would have been considered a superbike, not a "little" cruiser. Granted, there's a...

    New Camera

I can add a +1 to that idea. I learned this lesson decades ago and especially in the digital age, have since left on my flash for pretty much all shots. Near subjects benefit 100% (as above), distance shots don't matter. Easy peasy!

Nice work! I have a nice piece of software that does this kind of work very nicely. It is InPixio Photo Clip 7 Pro.

Heel shifter available for 6 speeds??

Sure it's your business, that's what a discussion forum is all about! However, you could very well be too young to know this, but most of the long defunct Italian Moto Parilla's had a factory heel/toe and none of them had boards. Even my 1957 98cc Fauna came that way and it was then that I...

Heel shifter available for 6 speeds??

Not wanting to hijack anything, I moved this post over from another swamp so I could share the following: I made some adjustments to my personal installation that I thought I'd post for future reference. I moved the front toe lever way down with just enough space for me to slip my foot under in...

    Thoughts

Agreed, pain sucks! But maybe it will suck less if you "mask" it with the creative juices that can flow over it. That happens when you are going crazy as you focus on the engine bars project! :D

Yeah I saw where they arrived on time. Good luck on the project. And remember, I'm your first customer for a successful conversion!:D

Let's hope that Mike is able to develop a good variation for us. If he can develop something akin to the Fehling bars, I'll be delighted.

I forgot about this place: http://www.defendersupply.com/gallery/honda-police-motorcycle/?album=9&gallery=202 Picture #7 is a nice close up of how they did their engine bars.

Bars are on their way! And a big +1 on the leather. It's exactly what I intended to do, that or a set of hand laid fiberglass lower "fairings" like I did on the engine bars on my GL500i Trike.

Yes, he'd be interested. That's why I rolled the dice in hoping I could make them work. But it wasn't in my skill set to pull it off. Here's wishing you good luck! (and save the shipping box!!):)
