Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

UPDATE: I installed the Givi racks. The Shad plate can fit only two of the Givi mounting holes directly. I chose to use the ones in the front. However, the Shad provides some clamp-like pieces that can be used to secure the rear of the plate to the Givi rack. The whole thing wasn't hard at all...

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

By the way, where is ProCaliber located? That info is not on their website (or at least I couldn't find it).

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

That's good to know for the future, but that's still $114 more than the Givi option. :D

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

The Givi brackets are $110. The Honda rear carrier is $149 and the backrest brackets required to mount it are $129 for a total of $278 (from Honda). I found a Honda set on eBay that includes the backrest for $189, but the seller has some questionable feedback.

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

Yes, I know that the Honda rear carrier would work. But it is very expensive compared to the Givi brackets.

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

Thanks a lot for this. I measured the Shad plate and it looks like the holes on the brackets are OK for width, but not for length. I might have to drill two new holes through the brackets. Are the brackets made of thick steel? (the Shad ones are a little under 1/8" thick) I could also make...

Question for owners of GIVI top case brackets

Hi, I recently upgraded to a Corbin seat, which happens to be incompatible with the Shad top box bracket. However the Shad plate has lots of different mounting options, and it occurred to me that it might fit the Givi brackets. If you own the Givi top case brackets, can you reply with the...

My mods. Feel free to ask!

Hey DevilsFan how did you get the Corbin seat to close with the Shad top box bracket installed? I have the same seat and bracket and it's either/or. The bracket obstructs the seat. Did you modify one of them?

The Corbin seats are NOT compatible with the Shad top box bracket

Just a public service announcement in case someone searches for this info in the future. Corbin seats are very wide in the back. Too wide for the Shad top box bracket.

    Any git-t-gathers planned?

Looks like I overlooked your previous post where you said you were in Mt. Dora. Anyway, I've been there, and it's a very nice place, but too far for me. (I'm 300 miles away in Ft. Lauderdale).

    Any git-t-gathers planned?

Florida is a humongous state. Can you be more specific about the area you'll be staying in?

Locking the handlebar is a two-handed operation

I fixed the problem this week. I used JB Weld to glue a washer to the stud on the steering column. Now locking and unlocking the handlebar is a smooth operation.

Warning if you are new to DCT

OK, that's a really long time! ;) Anyway, the behavior you described happened to me on my first bike, which was a scooter. I was trying to brake and accidentally pulled the throttle too. Ran into a bush. Very embarrassing. :( I am glad I got that scooter first. On the CTX, I might have ended up...
