Headlight and Driving Lights

Hi. I was riding at night and thought I would change my headlight to get more light. Has I could not see much and thank god I made it home without hitting something or going off the road because when I hit a bend I could not see where the road was.

So, 1st question What headlight bulb should I use? What is the factory bulb? I want to try and get better lighting but lower the power of the bulb And would it work with the pathBlazer modulate (the hi-beam goes on with the low beam, only in daylight, when I hit the hi beam bottom, I only use it when turning left or a car jumps out, or to make sure on-coming people see me). It works fine with the factory bulb.

2nd, I would light to add, driving lights to my forks, this way I would have more light where I am going. So do I use SPOT lights or FOG lights? Would 10/12 watt lights work? or do I need 20 watts (each)?

Thanks for your help, mj
BTW, I would like to also keep the cost as low as I can.

can't help with the headlight
10-12 watts will do fine
Fog will give you a wider beam which shows out to the sides more.
Be careful how big the light is to keep weight off the fork. Fork mounted will let the light turn with you which is good.
No need to spend big bucks. There are many on Ebay for 20 dollars or less.
Get Cree bulbs, they are the best.
here's a couple from ebay

they look light enough to work- pay attention to the mount.
I removed the yellow reflectors and mounted lights there. No pic and the bike has been sold.
Look around and check out a bunch.
Someone else will be along with more ideas.

Quite a few folks use the https://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Fluxbeam-Headlight-Single-Motorcycle/dp/B00WVJR0D8
I installed "work lights" they just put out a wall of light that I had to aim down but they light up all four lanes out in front
and cheap, low current draw.

Thanks Guys!
I think I will get these:
driving lights, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MDJK1AJ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3T6RQ9ATEYWS1&psc=1
Headlight, http://www.opt-7.com/fluxbeam-motorcycle-led-headlight/
I will install the driving lights with this switch/Wiring Harness http:///www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M1CXQB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
So I think I will be fine for night riding.

Do you think those mounting clamps would fit the forks? How did you plan on mounting them, and did you get the floods or the spots?

Dinali makes a fender mounting kit for any small light you want to mount. You loosen the front fender bolt and discard it. You then screw in a longer bolt with a spacer provided. Works perfect.

If you are trying to see ahead, get the spot, if you are trying to be seen, get the flood. I run Amber floods because I don’t want people turning left in front of me during the day. I don’t need anymore night light.

I went similar route, bought some Crees dirt cheap on Ebay, bought the same harness coincidently, but bought some water proof switches since the one with the kit isn't. Picked up spacers and longer m6 bolt at ace. Works great.

Are those the Denali mounts, mtvic? Btw. What's the second switch for?

OH. Never mind. I see you picked up longer m6 bolts and spacers from Ace. I gots it now. I like your mounts there.

I just ordered these for basically the same set up as mtvic. The waterproof switch, which hopefully it is, has a rubber boot right under the switch, so it's a bit more raised. Which to me should be better as a skirt around the button. Well see. It was inexpensive.

Second switch is for stereo I installed under grills, yes the harness comes with a switch and rubber boot, but manufacturer states not water proof. Switch is pretty big, so if fails you've got a big hole. I didn't want to ridk it and bought 4 smaller switches advertised as water proof from China for a total of 4.50. If one fails pop another in. Yea, took 3 weeks to arrive. I can post the stereo install separately,

Those are the ones I got too, mtvic. Advertised as waterproof. We'll see. Small too. About 3/4 in across.
