Newbe Price Check....

Made it over to the not so local Honda dealership to test fit a 2014 CTX700 with fairing. Felt pretty good as far as weight and height goes, seat could get old after an hour or so it feels.

Now I did not test drive one, only had the time to check for fitment purposes.

Dealer seems to be stuck at that $6,000 point plus the dealer prep, shipping and TT&L

I have located one 220 miles away that may work. It's not the white that I really wanted but rather the red color. It has the fairing, tall windshield, rear seat back rest and matching side luggage. 205 miles on the odometer and priced at $4,697 plus tax/title/license.

What say you the more knowledgeable as to the price?

Thanks

$6000 seems a little high for a 2014 model. I would look a bit further. There have been several Honda incentives re: 2014 models.

I was more questioning the lower used bike mentioned in the Original Post as quoted below,

The add ons alone come to probably $1500 without the bike...I like the price on the red one with all the goodies....

As far as the stock seat, it seems to be a mixed bag for a lot of riders. Maybe it depends on your weight, but my wife has ridden all over the US on the stock seat and loves it! We have added high dollar custom seats to her other bikes and she thinks the CTX stock is great (with the exception that she is only 5 ft short and wishes it was a bit narrower up front).
65k miles now and the bike is running like new!

agree with Trumper on the seat-I guess it depends on the cheeks, mine does well for me but I'll be getting an Airhawk cushion from Santa.
The second bike (the red) is a very decent deal=start by offering his price Out the door-including tax, tag, & title.
If you really want it let him know you want it "Today", don't jerk him around -negotiate, you'll get it. If he says no to your offer, thank him, stand up and head for the door-I bet you don't get far-you have the money and are in control on a used bike.
The red ones are the fastest by the way.

OK, take a look at direct me. I do favor the white due to matching the color of my F350 DRW FX4 and Taurus SHO. The red, I do like due to the price and coming with the saddle bags which from what I can tell is about an $800 Honda add on accessory. However, I'm not sure that the bags are a deal breaker for what I plan to use the bike for. Plus, I have noticed that there are options out there for what looks to be a bit larger bags for less money should I want to actually tour and need luggage.

One link, which is the white is a Craigslist listing would cost me $3999. The other is a Ebay listing which is 220 miles each way. Cost to pick up the red Ebay CTX700 would add an additional $100 I fuel plus $1,000 +or- in casino play. Spouse says that I could drop her off at the casino on the way up and pick her up and the way back.

now I see the red is on ebay with a buy now, you won't be able to negotiate easily.
The white price is not firm
he says "I don't have to sell" but something is motivating him to sell, spousal pressure, he just doesn't like it or something
if it's close enough to go look at, take 4 thousand with you and go look-tell him all you brought was the 4 and you'll buy it right now for 4
(maybe have 200 in another pocket) just in case you are smitten
It was listed for sale 2 mos. ago and updated 29 days ago -he doesn't "have" to sell but he sure as heck wants to sell
go make the offer
